Housing Policy:

The Department of Residential Life seeks to provide supportive, inclusive environments for all students. Students may request an accommodation for gender identity and exploration by contacting Residential Life or selecting the appropriate special accommodation options during the ROAR process. Housing accommodations are based on individual needs and available space. Residential Life respects and protects all students’ privacy. Residential Life is exploring gender neutral housing options as requested by RHA and MSA (MU student governments.)

The Student Recreation Center has two gender-neutral changing and shower rooms with lockable doors. These are located on the first floor, past the Tiger Grotto.

The University of Missouri does not have courses that focus on trans issues however there are a number of courses in Women's and Gender Studies as well as Sociology that regularly incorporate trans identities and narratives.

Healthcare

Campus Health Services:

The Student Health Center has both mental and physical health practitioners who are knowledgeable about trans issues. Hormones are prescribed through the Student Health Center.

The Transgender Health Network webpage contains a list of supportive providers that serve students and the local community. It also provides resources for providers.

Health Insurance:

As of August 2012, the University of Missouri's student health insurance will cover transgender related services (including hormones and surgery) if it is deemed "medically necessary" by a physician.

Records and Identity Documents

Registrar's Office:

Records contain a gender marker which can be chosen by the student upon enrollment. There is no preferred name policy in place at the University. To get your name changed within the University, you must change it legally.

The Triangle Coalition is the LGBTQ student organization. Fluidity is a transgender discussion group that meets in the LGBTQ Resource Center.

There is an LGBTQ graduate and professional student social group that meets a few times a month.
